MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): An agreement on oil and gas extraction from the Afghan-Tajik basin in northeastern Afghanistan was signed on Tuesday with three companies, which would invest $12 billion in the energy-starved country, an official said.
A Ministry of Mining official, Jalil Ahmad, told reporters at the signing ceremony in Mazar-i-Sharif the oil and gas basin, located between Takhar and Jawzjan provinces, had been discovered in 1957. But the domestic situation did not allow exploitation of the deposits.
KABUL (PAN): The Council of Ministers on Monday approved an agreement with three companies for fuel exploration and production at the Afghan-Tajik basin in the north.
Afghanistan is expected to earn $16 billion from exploitation of the oil and gas reserves over the next 25 years, according to the Ministry of Mines.
At a meeting chaired by President Hamid Karzai, the Cabinet discussed the agreement with the Turkish company TAPO, Kuwaiti firm Dragon Oil and the Ghazanfar Group of Afghanistan.
KABUL (PAN): The Ministry of Mines said eight international companies have been shortlisted to invest in six blocks out of the 12 blocks in the development and production of oil and gas in the Afghan-Tajik Basin in the northeast of Afghanistan.
The ministry’s spokesman, Mohammad Jawad Omer told Pajhwok Afghan News that the companies were from the United Arab Emirates, United States, Kuwait, India, Pakistan, Brazil, Thailand and Turkey.
KABUL (PAN): A bidding process for oil and gas extraction in the 31000 square kilometres Afghan-Tajik basin in the northeast would start on March 7, an official said on Saturday.
Six oil and gas zones were recently identified in the energy-deficient country -- Afghan-Tajik, Amu River, Koshk, Terpul in Herat, Kotawas and Helmand.
KABUL (PAN): A mines ministry official on Saturday said oil and gas fields at the Afghan Tajik basin in the northeast are being assessed ahead of a bidding process beginning on March 7.
The assessment launched on January 7 by a Canadian company would be completed on March 1, the mines ministry spokesman, Jawad Omar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
