1 dead, 6 injured in Jalalabad cylinder blast

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): One person was killed and six others wounded on Friday when a cylinder exploded in a hotel in Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said.

Brig. Gen. Fazal Ahmad Sherzad, provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the cylinder blast occurred at around 9: 00am in the kitchen of Salar Hotel in the city.

All the victims were employees of the hotel, he added. Shah Sawar, owner of the hotel, said it was a heavy blast which damaged parts of the hotel.

Marble factories hard hit by imports

JALALABAD (PAN): Owners of marble factories in eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday complained their business was being adversely affected by inferior imports.

While seeking encouragement from the authorities concerned, they claimed the marble found in Sherzad district was among the best in the world, but the imports had a debilitating impact on the industry.
