AIBAK (Pajhwok): The prolonged electoral crisis has led to an unprecedented decline in revenue from coalmines in the Dara-i-Suaf district of northern Samangan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Mohammad Kabir Mukaram, director civil services, told Pajhwok Afghan News the continued election wrangling had a negative impact on the coal mining process in Samangan as it has rendered more than 2,000 employees jobless.
AIBAK (Pajhwok): Revenue from coalmines in the Dar-i-Sauf Bala district of northern Samangan province has reached 1.6 billion afs in the first six months of the current fiscal year, an official said on Tuesday.
Governor Khirullah Anosh told Pajhwok Afghan News the revenue did not included income from private and public mines. The two main mines in Dahanator and Shabashak have fetched 785.5 million afs this year.

Abdul Khaliq, the district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News based on information from residents of the area the death toll had risen from 12 to 20 people.

AIBAK (PAN): Extraction work has been halted at nearly 32 coalmine tunnels due to the fear of collapse in Dara-i-Souf district of northern Samangan province, officials said on Thursday.
A technical team ordered the mines closed after an investigation revealed that the tunnels had not been professionally drilled and dug by local workers, deputy head of coal enterprises, Eng. Ali Madad, said.

AIBAK (PAN): About 5,000 tonnes of marbles that would be extracted from a newly discovered mine in northern Samangan province, would be used in the construction of the new Parliament building, officials said on Thursday.
Located in the KohKhers hill, 40 kilometres east of the provincial capital Aibak, the mine was discovered two months ago by the Sang-i-Takht-i-Rustum Company, said the governor's spokesman, Muhammad SiddiqAzizi.

Head of the coal mine enterprises, Eng, Abdul Aziz Mubin, told Pajhwok Afghan News the income in 2009 was more than 102 million afghanis. However, he said, the income increased to 300 million afghanis this year.
AIBAK (PAN): The government has reached a 10-year agreement with a private firm for extracting 600,000 tonnes of coal from a recently discovered mine in northern Samangan province, an official said on Wednesday.
The agreement signed with Misaq-i-Mashriq, a private mining company for extraction, to dig out coal from the newly discovered coal mine in Rao-i-Dawab district, public relations official, Mohammad Kabir Mukarramzada, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
